Plzeňský Prazdroj deploys AI-driven irrigation for Slovakia's last hop yard

Plzeňský Prazdroj SlovenskoSlovakia's last commercial hop yard, in Nemšová, is testing AI irrigation management for hop farming under Plzeňský Prazdroj Slovensko's PRE CHMEĽ project. Sensor stations record soil moisture, temperature, humidity and rainfall, feeding an app whose algorithm tells farmers when and how much to water. Metro Slovakia opens first hybrid autonomous store in Mlynky

Metro SlovakiaMetro Slovakia runs an autonomous store retail site in Mlynky, part of the Môj obchod partner network, staffed by day and switched to unattended AI-run operation once employees leave. Computer-vision cameras log every item taken from shelves, giving shoppers 24/7 access without a cashier on duty. Staff return each morning, so the shop is only self-operating outside normal opening hours.

    Method and sources

Every entry on this page is a named organisation putting AI to work in a real job, taken from the State of Applied AI record. Each one is traced to the report it came from and dated, and where a figure is the organisation’s own the entry says so rather than presenting it as an independent result. Readiness, ecosystem and policy figures, where shown, are attributed on the card to the body that published them.

The record is maintained continuously by the Industrial Research Unit of the Straits Institute for Applied AI: entries are added as they are found and verified, not on a schedule, and nothing is published without an open source behind it. It currently holds 1114 entries across 249 countries.
