Arbeidstilsynet launches multilingual AI chatbot for foreign workers

Arbeidstilsynet (Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority) — Arbeidstilsynet, Norway's Labour Inspection Authority, has launched an AI chatbot for foreign workers built on material drawn from arbeidstilsynet.no. The AI-powered assistant spans the regulator's entire area of responsibility and replies in 12 languages: Norwegian, English, Bulgarian, Estonian, French, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish and Ukrainian, helping migrant employees get guidance in their own tongue. Its debut supports a broader state campaign targeting social dumping and workplace crime.

Digdir establishes KI Norge as national AI arena

Norwegian Digitalisation Agency (Digdir) — Norway's Digitalisation Agency (Digdir) has set up KI Norge, a national hub driving AI adoption public sector activity and private organisations across the Norwegian economy. The initiative pairs shared guidance with a regulatory sandbox run alongside Nkom and Datatilsynet, plus links to industry, universities and researchers, backed by NOK 30 million in government funding covering the hub, sandbox and supervisory function. Full operations for this artificial intelligence deployment in government begin in August 2026.

Norway tells primary schools to keep pupils off AI

Norwegian Government (Kunnskapsdepartementet) — The Norwegian government said on 19 June 2026 AI in primary school should generally be avoided, and told the Directorate for Education and Training to issue national guidance before the school year. Year 1–7 pupils should not use AI for schoolwork themselves; lower-secondary classes may trial it cautiously once teachers are competent. All are advisory.

Helse Sør-Øst commits to 4,000 AI note-taking licences

Helse Sør-Øst RHF — Helse Sør-Øst, south-east Norway's health authority, decided on 9 April 2026 on a framework agreement with four AI note-taking suppliers and a binding order for 4,000 licences. Their speech-to-summary tools transcribe clinician–patient talk and draft a structured record summary. The authority will brief its board on wider rollout in autumn 2026, after early hospital use.
