Romanian Senate registers draft law on responsible AI use

Romanian Parliament (Senate) — Romania's Senate has registered legislation setting rules for AI regulation in sensitive fields such as healthcare, justice, and public administration, framed around the responsible use of artificial intelligence. Courts would be barred from letting algorithms decide cases, doctors must sign off on any AI-generated diagnosis, and consent becomes mandatory before AI can build political profiles; manipulative deepfakes aimed at swaying public opinion are banned outright. Piatra-Neamt hospital puts an AI hologram in its outpatient hall

Spitalul Judeţean de Urgenţă Piatra-Neamţ — Romania's Piatra-Neamţ County Emergency Hospital has placed an AI hologram at the doorway of its specialist outpatient department. The virtual assistant gives patients doctors' names and hours, specialities, consulting rooms, wards and the papers needed for a consultation, to ease routine questions at reception. A day after launch, local paper Mesagerul de Neamţ saw patients walk past it to the desk, because the hologram can talk but cannot book appointments.
