Microsoft Copilot, vetted for security, remains sanctioned, and Intric still serves ChatGPT and Claude models under these AI tool rules.
Sweden13 Oct 2026Internetstiftelsen — Internetstiftelsen found 9% of Swedes sought AI voting advice before the 2026 election, and 22% of those said the answers strongly shaped the ballot cast. Composing political or civic texts with AI services has doubled since the start of the year, now two in ten. The study of chatbots for election information used 2,142 web interviews with people aged 18 to 84 between 17 and 27 September 2026.
Sweden4 Sep 2026Chalmers University of Technology — Chalmers University of Technology researchers found in a preprint, not yet peer reviewed, that 9.4 per cent of motions tabled in Sweden's Riksdag in the 2025–26 parliamentary year had at least one paragraph judged to be written with generative AI. None of these uses was openly declared. The detectors were trained on Swedish and British parliamentary texts from before chatbots, and show the share climbing from near zero in 2021–22.
Sweden4 Sep 2026Government of Sweden — Sweden AI regulation gained an inquiry under Dir. 2026:116: special investigator Lisa Englund Krafft will settle how the public access principle applies when agencies run artificial intelligence and external cloud services. She must map practice, decide if material in such tools counts as official records, and test whether rules for public-sector AI obstruct uptake, reporting by 15 November 2027.
Sweden1 Jul 2026Skatteverket and Försäkringskassan — Sweden's tax agency Skatteverket and social insurance agency Försäkringskassan have begun trial operation of AI-verkstaden, a shared AI workshop that helps agencies, municipalities and regions build and use AI. Ten pilot organisations joined first, including Region Halland and Mörbylånga municipality, testing redaction, transcription and digital-assistant AI services. The pilots were picked to span different sizes and levels of technical maturity, the agencies said.

Sweden18 Nov 2025Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY) — Sweden's IMY has ended its inquiry into Försäkringskassan's AI welfare system, closing the case after the agency pulled the machine learning-based risk profiling tool it used to flag temporary parental benefit (VAB) claims for added scrutiny. Media coverage prompted IMY to open the investigation in June 2025; Försäkringskassan withdrew the tool soon after and ruled out bringing it back, so IMY judged the danger had passed.
Sweden6 Oct 2025Swedish Government — A new law and ordinance for Sweden AI regulation has been put forward by the government inquiry AI-utredningen, aiming to fill gaps left by the EU AI Act. Its blueprint hands PTS the lead role in a national market-control system for overseeing AI, while IMY and Finansinspektionen would jointly supervise high-risk applications. Set out in report SOU 2025:101, titled "Anpassningar till AI-förordningen" (Adaptations to the AI Regulation), the plan further recommends a regulatory sandbox operated by PTS and stronger sanction powers for regulators, all due to take effect from 2 August 2026 under this Swedish AI law.
Sweden20 Mar 2025Swedish Government — A new law would let Sweden's police run AI facial recognition police checks in real time against people in public spaces, part of wider biometric remote identification powers under memorandum Ds 2025:7. Officers would normally need a court's or prosecutor's sign-off first, except in urgent cases, where approval can follow within 24 hours. Swedish consultation on the plan produced a formal government proposition in March 2026.

Sweden28 Sep 2026Region Stockholm — Region Stockholm adds Lunit INSIGHT MMG as an independent second reader at Capio Saint Göran Hospital, Karolinska University Hospital and Södersjukhuset in Sweden, for AI mammography reading on 200,000 to 250,000 screens yearly at full rollout via Sectra. Lunit's own Saint Göran data, about 200,000 exams over three years, show the AI-assisted screening finding 15% more cancers and reading time down over 36%.
Sweden2026In the MASAI randomised controlled trial of 105,934 Swedish women using the Transpara reading-support tool, AI mammography found 29% more cancers than standard double reading, cut radiologists' reading workload by ~44% and did not increase false positives (interim, Lancet Oncology 2023). Final results (The Lancet, 29 January 2026) add safety endpoints: ~12% fewer interval cancers (1.55 vs 1.76 per 1,000), 27% fewer aggressive (non-luminal-A) cancers and screen-detection sensitivity of 81% vs 74%.
Sweden2025-12Klippan Municipality — Klippan municipality trialled AI documentation for social workers using software called Tandem, with participants gaining an extra hour daily previously spent on paperwork. Among 16 people involved, 94 per cent rated the AI-assisted documentation for care staff more favourably than older methods, and 69 per cent felt fully engaged during client sessions across the one-to-three-month trial.

It overhears consultations and auto-generates referrals, certificates and notes, easing paperwork for more patient time. This marks wider AI clinical documentation use in Sweden's primary care.

Estimates now land 50 per cent nearer actual pre-surgery time, 20 per cent nearer during surgery, and 40 per cent nearer post-surgery. Operating room planning is steadier as a result.

Ordinary pathology slides feed the software, which hands back prognostic output in under an hour, letting clinicians settle on treatment for early breast cancer sufferers with less delay. The approach works as an AI-based breast cancer prognostic tool that backs up, rather than substitutes, a pathologist's own judgement.

Ten clinics in primary, specialist and hospital care reported lighter workloads and more consultation time. Tandem drafts clinical notes automatically from live conversations, a method some call AI clinical note-taking.
Sweden1 Oct 2026Sveriges advokatsamfund (Swedish Bar Association) — Sveriges advokatsamfund, the Swedish Bar Association, signed three framework deals giving members vetted legal AI tools: Swedish case-management system Arkivia, Vesence, an agent for Microsoft Office, and Blendow-Noxtua. Vesence screens Word and Outlook drafts for contradictions, formal slips and rule violations pre-delivery; Blendow-Noxtua, from Blendow Group and Berlin-based Noxtua, keeps data on certified European servers. Bar lawyers trialled each; February deals covered Blendow Lexnova, Legora, Juno and JP Infonet, widening AI for advocates.
Sweden23 Apr 2026EQT — EQT has AI systems covering 60 percent of non-disclosure agreement work, an in-house legal AI drive named 40X Return. Chief legal officer Josefin Nowén Wirkkala, heading over 40 lawyers across Europe, the US and Asia since 2025, deploys Harvey with other tools and obliges outside counsel to adopt Harvey on joint matters. That AI programme for corporate lawyers won Wirkkala the Årets Bolagsjurist 2026 award on 22 April.

Sweden13 Jan 2026Eskilstuna tingsrätt — Eskilstuna tingsrätt trimmed a large firm's fee after its lawyer relied on four AI-fabricated Högsta domstolen judgments and misread an avtalslagen clause on late acceptance as a suretyship rule. Such AI hallucinations in court filings weighed heavily, the judgment found, against paying 2,100 kronor an hour, a reduction the firm has accepted. The Swedish Bar Association had cautioned members last summer that generative tools can invent precedents and legislation.

Attorneys co-built the software across 2025, targeting AI-assisted legal deliverables that get reviewed and quality-checked before use. It now runs daily inside M&A deals, letting staff structure documents, verify quality and strip out friction on projects.

Staff across the Swedish firm's Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö and Sundsvall locations gained shared access to the legal research tool for reviewing and organising large volumes of case material. MAQS is ranked among Sweden's leading full-service commercial law practices.
Sweden2025-03ICA Banken — Over 70,000 monthly sessions now flow through ICA's network of AI help robots, with 92% of users never needing to escalate to a live agent. Swedish retailer ICA built this AI chatbot banking capability first for its banking arm, ICA Banken, on icabanken.se, following earlier launches at Apotek Hjärtat in November 2024 and ICA Sverige the month after. This AI customer service chatbot expansion reflects a coordinated group-wide strategy rather than a standalone project, though the usage figures remain ICA's own and are not independently verified.
Sweden15 Jan 2025Trygg-Hansa — Swedish insurer Trygg-Hansa built a homegrown AI crime risk alerts system, spotting odd spikes in claims data and texting SMS warnings to policyholders facing rising burglary danger. An internal AI unit paired anomaly detection with clustering to build it, already covering thousands of customers. Car theft and other claims follow next as Trygg-Hansa widens beyond burglary-pattern notifications.
Sweden7 Jan 2025Sejfa — A generative AI claims intake insurance tool called Smart Skada now handles Swedish home insurance customers for Sejfa, the digital service owned by Länsförsäkringsbolagen. Instead of scripted replies typical of reproduction-style chatbots, this system drafts original follow-up questions and answers while collecting damage details through conversation. Testing began in September 2024, and strong outcomes led to a full launch, with expansion planned across Länsförsäkringsbolagen throughout the year. The generative AI insurance chatbot marks a shift from rule-based automation toward dynamic, self-generated dialogue.

Three in four respondents said the assistant met their needs precisely. Parent group Homeco extended this AI chatbot in retail to Norwegian siblings Kitch'n and Tilbords.

Sweden2024Swedish fintech Klarna says an internal Copy Assistant writes about 80 per cent of its marketing copy, alongside generative-AI image tools such as Midjourney, DALL-E and Adobe Firefly. In May 2024 it reported image-production costs down around $6 million and the image cycle cut to seven days from six weeks, crediting AI with roughly $10 million in yearly marketing savings and 25 per cent less external agency spend. Later cutbacks to its AI customer-service agents left marketing untouched, and these figures were never retracted.

Running on Sics AI's Robot Brain One system, it reaches 2,000 picks per hour without losing accuracy and recognises unfamiliar products instantly, needing no manual reprogramming and enabling automated order fulfilment.
