Madrid's public hospitals use AI to read MRI scans where prostate cancer is suspected.
DeploymentHealthcare & Life SciencesSpain10 Sep 2026
Madrid will run AI over records of 2 million chronic patients
Comunidad de Madrid — Comunidad de Madrid will use AI in chronic disease monitoring for close to 2 million patients through CRON-IA, a system flagging early warning signs in their records. Personaliz@ extends remote monitoring for hospital patients recovering at home via continuous assessment and clinical alerts, while PREVEN-IA builds digital twins from genomic, analytical, imaging and clinical data to forecast outcomes, an AI-based patient monitoring approach across three tools. Ayuso outlined the plan at the Madrid Assembly; none of the systems is installed yet, and these remain commitments rather than deployments.

Madrid puts AI into public hospitals for prostate and breast cancer
Comunidad de Madrid — Spain's Comunidad de Madrid has installed AI cancer diagnosis tools in several public hospitals to spot suspected prostate and breast cancer faster and more accurately, and to follow detected cases. For prostate cancer they help radiologists read MRI and review a patient's whole imaging history together; for breast cancer, systems reading 2D mammograms and 3D tomosynthesis flag suspicious lesions and score how likely malignancy is. Clinicians will test them on diagnosed cases in coming months, with phased installation from summer.

Madrid to add AI tools for teachers to EducaMadrid platform
Comunidad de Madrid (Regional Ministry of Digitalisation) — Spain's Community of Madrid says it will add AI tools for teachers to its EducaMadrid schools platform: first an email assistant that drafts, reviews and polishes, then one designing personalised pupil content automatically. Five schools will trial the features first; each teacher could save about 40 routine hours a year, it estimates.

Every entry on this page is a named organisation putting AI to work in a real job, taken from the State of Applied AI record. Each one is traced to the report it came from and dated, and where a figure is the organisation’s own the entry says so rather than presenting it as an independent result. Readiness, ecosystem and policy figures, where shown, are attributed on the card to the body that published them.
The record is maintained continuously by the Industrial Research Unit of the Straits Institute for Applied AI: entries are added as they are found and verified, not on a schedule, and nothing is published without an open source behind it. It currently holds 1114 entries across 249 countries.
