Greece's AI traffic cameras start issuing fines in Attica

Greek Ministry of Digital Governance and AI — Greece's Ministry of Digital Governance switched on pilot AI traffic cameras at eight high-risk points in Attica on 28 March 2026, certifying violations through the traffic police system and notifying drivers via gov.gr. The first 130 digital fines, mostly for red-light running and helmetless motorcyclists, went out within days; three ministries share the programme: digital governance, citizen protection and transport.

University of Patras (KEDIVIM) — Greece's first university-certified cohort in AI in public administration wraps coursework this month and next, having started 29 June. The University of Patras's lifelong-learning centre backs the qualification, from the nation's first distance-based degree in this field. It sets a new benchmark for government AI credentialing nationwide.
