Supervised by teachers, pupils used a generative-AI tutor, Microsoft Copilot powered by GPT-4; the World Bank likens the improvement to about two years of typical learning, and end-of-year exam scores rose too. A formal working paper records the trial.

They favour automated risk scoring, anomaly detection and behavioural pattern recognition, demand at least yearly independent validation of machine-learning models and require explanations for every alert.

Local firm Publica AI built the voice-and-text assistant on Meta's open-source Llama models with the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.

AI emergency call screening checks reports live, acting as a prank-call filter against false alarms, and pinpoints callers automatically.

Nigeria25 Jul 2026Federal Government of Nigeria — Nigeria's Federal Government unveiled NAPS, a national AI crop monitoring system built with OCP Africa and Ground Truth Analytics that reads satellite images refreshed every five days and pinpoints individual farms. Satellite farm mapping will spread in phases under a memorandum of understanding, from one state towards 15 priority states, following pilots the partners say reached 13 states and over 250,000 farmers.

Nigeria14 Aug 2026International Press Centre — The International Press Centre piloted WAFLO, a WhatsApp-based AI election incident reporting system, during the Osun State governorship election. Journalists on duty logged harassment, intimidation, assaults, threats and other press freedom violations live over the WhatsApp line for monitoring and documentation. It runs under Component 4 of the European Union Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria Phase Two programme, with the Centre for Media and Society.
