Chad begins pre-validating its National AI Strategy 2026–2030

Ministry of Telecommunications, Digital Economy and Digitalisation (Chad) — Chad's Ministry of Telecommunications, Digital Economy and Digitalisation began pre-validating the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy for 2026–2030 on 8 October, joined by state bodies, experts and the UN Economic Commission for Africa. The Chad AI policy roadmap, unadopted so far, follows technical sign-off of the National Data Governance Strategy.

Centre National des Curricula (CNC) — Chad's Centre National des Curricula delivered AI training for education to roughly 60 curriculum designers, backed by UNESCO's International Bureau of Education. Chad creates a Directorate General for Artificial Intelligence

Government of Chad — Chad's Government has created an AI policy directorate, the Directorate General for Artificial Intelligence (DG IA), under the Ministry of Telecommunications, Digital Economy and Digitalization of the Administration, by presidential decree. Zara Ahmed Sidick heads the body, the country's first of its kind, tasked with drafting national strategy, flagging priority sectors, gauging AI's impact and scouting automation across public services. Chad uses AI-powered X-ray to detect TB in remote communities

Chad National Tuberculosis Control Program (PNT) — Chad's National Tuberculosis Control Program (PNT) used AI-powered X-ray screening to find 112 TB cases among nomads, prisoners and refugees. The CAD4TB tool, mounted on a mobile truck, examined 7,116 people across 12 detention sites and 9 refugee camps, flagging 589 abnormal scans. This AI tuberculosis screening effort also trained 220 health staff, 90 volunteers and 120 prison cell leaders.

Microsoft AI Economy Institute — AI adoption in Chad stands at 8.7% of the working-age population for the opening quarter of 2026, a gain of 0.9 points on 7.8% across late 2025 and 7.0% earlier that year. The world average climbed 16.3% to 17.8%, the Global South 14.1% to 15.4%.
