Pikine-Guédiawaye court starts AI pilot for its judicial archives
Tribunal de grande instance de Pikine-Guédiawaye — Senegal's Tribunal de grande instance of Pikine-Guédiawaye started installing an on-site AI for judicial archives on 5 October 2026, partnering the UN Development Programme and the Republic of Korea. The Directorate of Dematerialisation and Automation now holds an NVIDIA DGX Spark, scanners and storage units, so judgments and case files can be converted and loaded. Employees get training first; should the trial succeed, AI-assisted court records should gradually spread to other jurisdictions nationwide.

Senegal validates an AI training plan for state employees
Government of Senegal — Senegal has signed off a national digital training plan for public-sector staff, naming AI skills for civil servants. Coverage runs to cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, online public services, information systems, data handling and digital tools, pitched by grade and trade. The scheme belongs to the New Deal Technologique, opened February 2025.

Senegal launches e-Justice and Jokko ak Yoon digital court platforms
Ministère de la Justice du Sénégal — Senegal's Ministry of Justice launched two digital court platforms, e-Justice and Jokko ak Yoon. e-Justice standardises and traces court case processing; Jokko ak Yoon gives citizens SMS and audio access to the justice system in national languages. UNDP supported court digitisation built by the Direction de la Dématérialisation et de l'Automatisation numérique.

Senegal replaces paper tax stamps with digital SenTimbre platform
Direction Générale des Impôts et des Domaines (DGID) — Senegal has scrapped paper tax stamps: DGID now channels purchases through SenTimbre, its digital tax stamps platform. A secure QR code on each stamp blocks the forgery that plagued the old paper-based electronic stamp duty system, part of the state's New Deal Technologique drive to digitise public services.

Senegal data protection authority warns against AI misuse on social media
Commission de Protection des Données Personnelles (CDP) — Senegal's CDP publicly denounced AI misuse on social media on 8 October 2025, citing manipulated videos and photos of public figures and ordinary people circulated without consent. Commission de Protection des Données Personnelles officials tied this AI-generated deepfakes and manipulated media trend to opinion-manipulation tactics, plus dangers of stolen identities and misused personal information. They pressed citizens, creators and platforms alike to jointly guard against such harms.

National AI strategy and road map for Senegal
Ministry of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital Economy (MCTEN) — Senegal AI policy rests on the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence, unveiled 14 September 2023 by the Ministry of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital Economy: 'Stratégie nationale et feuille de route du Sénégal sur l'Intelligence Artificielle', to 2028. Four aims — the Plan Sénégal Émergent, AI for good, Ubuntu-inspired solidarity, trustworthy systems. 52 actions, six pillars: human capital, lab-to-market, an AI cluster, a regional AI hub for West Africa.

Senegal to train 105,000 teachers in AI under FORCE N programme
Ministère de l'Éducation nationale — Senegal's Ministry of National Education will give 105,000 teachers AI training under the FORCE N programme, Minister Moustapha Guirassy said on 30 September 2026. The Université Numérique Cheikh Hamidou Kane runs it with the Mastercard Foundation, building artificial intelligence skills nationwide. Guirassy also handed 5,000 computers to secondary pupils.
Senegal launches Allô Gorgui AI assistant for students and teachers
Ministry of National Education of Senegal — Senegal's Ministry of National Education has rolled out Allô Gorgui, an AI assistant for students and teachers, developed with local startup Andakia and unveiled at the Concours général 2026 awards ceremony. It is an AI-powered educational assistant that gives spoken lesson explanations and exercise help in French, with Wolof support being added gradually, over an ordinary phone line with no smartphone or internet connection required. Coverage is set to widen to further national languages later on.

Senegal certifies 3,467 education staff in digital skills and AI
Ministry of National Education of Senegal — Senegal's Ministry of National Education certified 3,467 public education agents of 3,909 candidates (88.69%) in Digital Skills (C2i-Edu) and Artificial Intelligence in Education (CIA-Edu). For AI certification in education, the AI Certificate in Education hit 93.1%. Planned: national rollout of these AI teaching credentials, adding beginner support and female-participation measures.
Senegal launches Tutobac IA, a free AI assistant for Baccalaureate exam prep
Senegal's Ministry of Education and Kajou — Tutobac IA, a free AI Baccalaureate exam prep tool, now runs inside Senegal's Kajou app for Android and iOS. It generates tailored explanations and practice questions from the official Bac syllabus, an AI-assisted Bac revision aid before the national test. Lycée d'Excellence Mahmady trialled it 4 December 2025 ahead of nationwide rollout.
Libraries Without Borders trials AI language app with Senegal teachers
Libraries Without Borders (Bibliothèques Sans Frontières) — Libraries Without Borders tests an AI language app with 30 primary school teachers in Dakar and Thiès until March 2025, partnering Senegal's Ministry of Education, with French Development Agency backing. Kajou and Pleias research lab built the AI French tutor on a Llama 7-billion-parameter model, writing tailored drills plus thorough one-to-one feedback.

Senegal and Kajou launch AI e-learning for community health workers
Ministry of Health and Social Action of Senegal and Kajou — No signal, no problem: kSANTÉ fits AI e-learning for community health workers onto one MicroSD card across Senegal. Kajou joined the Ministry of Health and Social Action to load 14 lessons plus an AI-powered training platform for health workers, drawing on official archives, onto each card. Dakar launched with 2,000 units.
AI4PEP Senegal — AI4PEP Senegal built Plateforme 3S One Health, an AI-powered zoonotic disease surveillance platform for tracking outbreaks at community level. Three Wolof tools drive it: Taggàt, a chatbot; Jottali, for alerts; and Gëstu, a risk dashboard — linking automated public health surveillance to epidemic detection.

AI maps Senegal's smallholder crops correctly 84% of the time
University of Cambridge — Tessera, an open-source University of Cambridge model fed satellite imagery, got AI crop mapping right 84% of the time in Senegal's groundnut basin, Environmental Research: Food Systems reports. The satellite-based crop identification beat the next-best model by 28% in one test on far less labelled data and compute. The World Food Programme's country team weighs geospatial data and AI for food-security checks.
