Madagascar launches ASAN'AI digital skills programme for 1,300 youth

Government of Madagascar — Madagascar's Government has opened ASAN'AI, a free 15-month AI digital skills training scheme for 1,300 young Malagasy. Delivered with the World Bank and private firms Intelcia, Konecta, Connecteo and Concentrix, this AI skills programme builds capacity for high-demand roles in business process outsourcing, including augmented customer experience work. A first batch of 280 trainees began placement from month three.

Malagasy Customs deploys generative AI agent for invoice fraud detection

Direction Générale des Douanes de Madagascar — Agent SVO hunts fraudulent invoices at Madagascar's customs authority, built by its Centre d'Excellence des Données et de l'Intelligence Artificielle (CEDIA) as a generative AI invoice fraud detection tool. It flags tampered figures and forgeries automatically, sharpening checks while adding speed via automated document verification.

FHI 360 pilots AI chatbot for teacher training in rural Madagascar

FHI 360 — FHI 360 piloted an AI chatbot for teacher training with 16 primary school instructors and instructional leaders in Madagascar's Atsimo-Atsinanana region under its FIANTSO project, a three-week trial in January. This AI teacher-training assistant answers pedagogy questions in Malagasy, including regional dialects, using Ministry of Education-validated materials. Feedback was strong: 70% rated it very useful, and 80% said it was simple to use.
