Draft Artificial Intelligence Bill for Namibia

Ministry of Information and Communication Technology — Namibia's Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) has produced a draft Artificial Intelligence Bill setting out how AI should be used responsibly and safely across government and industry, a step officials describe as central to this Namibia AI regulation drive. Speaker of the National Assembly Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila linked the plan to a broader effort at overhauling public administration and curbing hazards from emerging digital tools, and ICT Minister Emma Theofelus later told Parliament in September 2025 that drafters are matching the Bill against UNESCO's guidance on AI ethics as this AI governance legislation takes shape.

Angra Pequena Senior Secondary School — Angra Pequena Senior Secondary School in Lüderitz has opened two AI tutoring labs worth N$1.15 million, funded by BW Kudu (N$900,000) and the Namibian Ports Authority (Namport) (N$250,000). YYeni AI's software coaches pupils step by step and doubles as a classroom helper for staff, backed by teacher training and a resident support specialist. YYeni counts over 4,940 tutoring hours and 2,253 practice tests logged in the machine-guided study rooms.

Namibia launches AI-assisted learning pilot at Lüderitz schools

Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture — Classroom instruction at Lüderitz Secondary School now blends with software under a five-month scheme called the YYeni AI Lüderitz Pilot, built on the YYeni AI learning platform and connected via Telecom Namibia. Namibia cancels a US firm's AI crop-monitoring contract

Government of Namibia — Namibia's Cabinet told officials to scrap a N$40 million deal with US agritech company 6th Grain Corporation for countrywide AI crop monitoring by satellite. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Land Reform then ended the Remote Sensing Agricultural Services Agreement, saying the satellite-monitoring deal broke the legal and procedural rules for state contracts.
