Seychelles makes an AI credential mandatory for all teachers

Cabinet of Seychelles / Ministry of Education — Seychelles' Cabinet has approved the National AI in Education Framework 2026–2030, requiring an AI micro-credential of every teacher. Schools each get an AI champion under a four-level teacher AI competency framework; a national steering committee will list approved and banned tools, and final grading and other high-stakes decisions keep human oversight in early phases.

Cabinet approves National AI in Education Framework for all state schools

Government of Seychelles — Cabinet has cleared Seychelles' National Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education Framework 2026–2030, the country's first roadmap for AI in education in state schools. A four-tier National Teacher AI Competency Framework, a required AI micro-credential, and an AI Champion per school drive this push for AI adoption in classrooms, spanning teaching, leadership and administration.

Seychelles Cabinet approves NISTI Bill creating science and AI body

Government of Seychelles — A new statutory body will steer Seychelles AI policy after Cabinet cleared the NISTI Bill, setting up the National Institute for Science, Technology and Innovation to lead national research and innovation efforts. Lawmakers enacted the Act in December 2025, tasking NISTI with drafting strategies for artificial intelligence adoption, digital transformation and other frontier technologies, plus overseeing tech transfer across the islands. This positions the institute as Seychelles' central authority for coordinating AI regulation and innovation planning.
