Philippines to give 50,000 public servants Google's Gemini Enterprise

Department of Information and Communications Technology — The Department of Information and Communications Technology says generative AI for public servants starts with over 50,000 staff getting Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise app under a multi-year partnership, then more than 200,000 government workers within 18 months. It will also build AI agents speaking local languages to help citizens with disaster aid guidelines, health centre appointments and administrative procedures.

Philippines sets AI rules for every government agency

Department of Information and Communications Technology — The Department of Information and Communications Technology and the Civil Service Commission have issued Joint Memorandum Circular No. 003, Series of 2026, principles-based public-sector AI rules for how Philippine agencies build, deploy and use AI. Agencies must match AI work to privacy, security, accountability, transparency and fairness and create oversight machinery, including an internal IT, legal and operational committee; it takes effect on publication.

Philippine Supreme Court sets AI rules for the judiciary

Supreme Court of the Philippines — The Supreme Court of the Philippines set out a Governance Framework on the Use of Human-Centered Augmented Intelligence in the Judiciary in a resolution dated 18 February 2026. It lets AI in the judiciary help with court documents, from copy-editing, optical character recognition and summarising to legal research, translation and voice-to-text transcription, but bans any tool that could harm stakeholders, breach rights or weaken the rule of law. AI output can never be the sole basis for adjudication, and human decision-makers keep full responsibility for legal reasoning and judgments.

The Philippines opens its first government-led AI academy, in Cebu

PEZA / TESDA — The Philippine Economic Zone Authority has opened the country's first government-led AI training academy in Mandaue City, Cebu, with TESDA and private providers Advanced Institute of Technology and StackTrek. Workers at PEZA-registered firms, over 424 of them in Cebu, study applied AI for business, automation and generative AI tools for free.

Marcos launches AI training for 1.5 million in basic education

Department of Education, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr and Education Secretary Sonny Angara launched Project AGAP.AI, the Department of Education's AI training in schools on responsible AI use for teachers and students, at Quezon City Science High School. Santo Tomas puts Gemini for Education before 46,000 students

University of Santo Tomas — Gemini for Education now backs teaching, research and academic support for over 46,000 students across 22 academic units at the University of Santo Tomas, part of the Philippine institution's push on generative AI in higher education. More than 2,000 faculty gained training to use the tools within their own subjects, with 45 e-learning specialists and over 300 Google Certified Educators providing support, an example of AI in university teaching and learning at scale. Uses span nursing students rehearsing emergencies, architecture students visualising designs, and staff drafting rubrics, lesson plans and visual guides.
