OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe — The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe and the OSCE Secretariat's Action against Terrorism Unit gave 18 officials AI ethics training for law enforcement on 29 and 30 September 2026. Trainees from Tajikistan's Ministry of Internal Affairs, Prosecutor General's Office, State Committee for National Security and Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption covered data protection, transparency, accountability and human oversight in this responsible-AI instruction, counter-terrorism included.

Tajikistan launches orbital AI system to monitor natural threats
Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense of Tajikistan — ARGUS, an AI early warning system from zehnlab.ai, Indian firm SkyServe and Tajikistan's Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense, now guards the Pamir Mountains from orbit. A satellite GPU runs a computer vision model onboard, spotting floods, glacial lake bursts, landslides and snow slides, then sends short alerts instead of raw pictures. This orbital AI monitoring starts at Lake Pshart on 20 September 2026, later reaching Lake Sarez.

South Korea trains Tajik law enforcement in AI forensic techniques
Tajikistan Ministry of Internal Affairs (trainees); Korea International Cooperation Agency (trainer) — Roughly 30 Tajik officials — from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, police and border guards — completed AI forensic investigation training at the Korea-Tajikistan Security Cooperation Seminar in Dushanbe, run by the Korea International Cooperation Agency. South Korea's National Police Agency and National Forensic Service covered deepfake and voice phishing detection, cryptocurrency tracing, and digital evidence from Telegram and large language models — one strand of AI-driven crime detection now reaching Central Asia. The programme ran five days, 3 to 7 August 2026.

Tajikistan makes facial recognition permanent for 877,000 pensioners
Agency for Social Insurance and Pensions of Tajikistan — Tajikistan's Agency for Social Insurance and Pensions has made facial recognition pensioners checks mandatory for all recipients, after a nationwide re-registration logged nearly 877,000 beneficiaries into a refreshed electronic database. The drive exposed fraud, including payments still drawn on behalf of deceased recipients, and forms part of a wider shift toward biometric identification pension systems. The agency is now building remote online verification so citizens abroad can complete facial scans without returning home.

Tajikistan launches AI-GOV initiative with Perplexity Comet for government
Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan — Tajikistan's Ministry of Industry and New Technologies has launched AI-GOV, deploying the Perplexity Comet browser across government offices as a step toward AI in public sector administration. Epsilon3.ai built the system architecture as technology partner, and the tool already runs inside the Ministry, where it handles licensing approvals for small and medium businesses, covering regulatory checks and knowledge management, an early government use of an AI browser.

Tajikistan to roll out AI-powered ASYCUDA customs system from October
Customs Service of Tajikistan — Starting 1 October 2025, Tajikistan's Customs Service will require an AI-powered customs system for all import-export declarations, built on UNCTAD's ASYCUDA platform. Traders face a new rule: electronic paperwork must reach officials at least two hours before goods or vehicles arrive at the border. The move targets faster processing and automated customs clearance, aiming for wider transparency and stronger revenue collection across every customs regime and procedure.

Tajikistan launches e-government portal with Bonoor AI assistant in Tajik language
Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of Tajikistan — Bonoor, a free AI assistant government services tool replying only in Tajik, sits inside ehukumat.tj, Tajikistan's new digital gateway from the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies. Since its March 2025 pilot, over 1.5 million residents joined, drawing on 20 online services spanning 45 state bodies. Strategy for the development of artificial intelligence in Tajikistan for the period up to 2040
Government of the Republic of Tajikistan — The Government set Tajikistan AI policy through Government Resolution No. 483, the Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence in the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2040, targeting 5% of GDP from AI-related economic activity by 2040. The national AI plan prioritises ethical AI, model deployment, data enhancement and talent development. Resolution No. 83 amended it on 31 January 2025.

Eight Tajik universities now offer AI specialisations to 468 students
Ministry of Education and Science of Tajikistan — Tajikistan's Ministry of Education and Science reports 468 students enrolled in AI higher education, as eight universities and institutes run a full artificial intelligence specialisation. Initial graduates, including the Technological University of Tajikistan's first four-year cohort, are due in 2026. University AI training spans machine learning, data analytics, algorithm design, AI system design, and image and speech recognition.
AI lessons introduced in over 100 schools across Tajikistan
AI Council under Ministry of Industry and New Technologies — Tajikistan's Ministry of Industry and New Technologies has begun offering AI education in schools through more than 100 institutions nationwide, using its AI Council to deliver a free weekly period to grade 10 and 11 pupils. Dushanbe hosts sixty of the sites, while 40 operate in outlying towns and districts. Since 1 September 2025, this optional scheme has served as groundwork for eventually making 'Fundamentals of AI' a mandatory curriculum topic, with AI lessons in schools not yet compulsory.

Tajikistan's transport ministry begins testing AI call centre for carriers
Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan — Tajikistan's Ministry of Transport is piloting an AI call centre for carriers, run by its Center for Digitalization of the Transport Sector and reachable on 8808. It aims to cut the time needed to secure permits, passes, vouchers and cargo waybills. An AI-powered call centre for freight operators like this also comes with a Telegram channel, Centre for Information Support of Users of Transport Systems, and a chatbot, MintransBot, for user queries.
