Seroond opens Armenia's first AI-native public school in Vahagni

Armenia's education ministry will give 50,000 free ChatGPT Edu subscriptions

Armenia will create an AI Police for round-the-clock digital services

Government of Armenia — Armenia's 2026-2031 government programme commits the force to a 'Digital Police', with an AI-based 'AI Police' unit operating online to keep citizens safe, run a cyber laboratory, score risks, profile people and offer services 24/7. AI policing extends to criminological analysis, with fresh tooling to read offence patterns, where they cluster and what threats follow, plus new methods for projecting crime trends, spotting danger sooner, sharpening prevention and grounding decisions in evidence. Further steps target hostile foreign information manipulation, falsehoods and fabricated material, including deepfakes and synthetic AI content.

Armenia signs the Council of Europe's AI framework convention

Government of Armenia — Armenia AI regulation gained a treaty anchor on 27 January 2026, when Yerevan endorsed the Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence, Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law, the first global legal text shielding freedoms from the technology. Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan signed in Strasbourg, taking signatories to seventeen. Ratifying binds domestic AI rules to protect rights and democratic norms without stifling innovation, via law or executive action.

Armenia's 485 Center releases an 80-minute AI-animated epic film

485 Center for Generative Technologies — Little Mher, an 80-minute animated feature drawn from the Armenian epic Daredevils of Sassoun, reached Yerevan screens on 31 May 2026 and went on general release across the country. The 485 Center for Generative Technologies confined AI film animation to drawing frames and moving them: script, vocals, score and art styling stayed with a crew of actors, musicians, screenwriters, illustrators, cinematographers and machine-learning experts, according to director-producer Hovhannes Margaryan. Matching machine-made pictures to Armenian dialogue proved hardest, since such models mostly learn from English. Its makers bill it a regional first.
