Santa Fe grain port uses AI to automate railcar identification
Terminal 6 — Deep learning software from Spanish startup AllRead now reads railcar codes automatically at Terminal 6 (T6), a grain terminal in Santa Fe. Built with support from Argentine consultancy Generatica, the AI railcar identification tool scans wagons as they arrive, cutting out manual registration once needed for eight to ten trains daily, each hauling roughly 50 cars, at a site moving more than 80,000 tonnes of raw materials every day. Real-time, code-scanning technology like this had removed a longstanding bottleneck in port logistics.
