Osez l'IA national plan to diffuse AI in all businesses

Ministry delegated for Artificial Intelligence and Digital, Government of France — The French government's Osez l'IA plan sets 2030 targets for AI adoption in businesses: 50% of very small businesses, 80% of SMEs and 100% of large groups. Awareness comes from 615 AI Ambassadors in 20 regions, alongside training for 15 million professionals by 2030 and company support such as Data AI diagnostics and AI Accelerators. EU AI Act establishes harmonised rules on artificial intelligence

European Parliament and Council of the European Union — Brussels enforces a single artificial intelligence rulebook, the EU AI Act, now binding across the European Union — the world's first such comprehensive law, in force since 1 August 2024. Martinique falls under its scope automatically, as an outermost region of a member state, alongside every other EU territory. Instead of one uniform standard, the text sorts systems into four bands — unacceptable, high, limited and minimal risk — fixing separate duties on providers and deployers depending on where a tool lands. This tiered method to AI governance ties compliance burden to potential harm rather than treating every deployment alike.

CNIL recommendation on applying GDPR to AI development

Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés (CNIL) — France's data protection authority CNIL adopted Délibération n° 2024-011, its first General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) recommendations for building AI systems. Released 8 April 2024 as Martinique AI regulation covering French territory, it addresses purpose, legal responsibilities, legal basis, impact assessments and data protection by design. Its audience: AI professionals needing rules for AI development.

National strategy for artificial intelligence launched in 2018

Government of France — France launched its national AI strategy, the Stratégie nationale pour l'intelligence artificielle (SNIA), unveiled by President Emmanuel Macron at the Collège de France and building on the Villani report 'Donner un sens à l'intelligence artificielle'. It targets European and global AI leadership through two funded phases: Phase 1 (2018–2022, €1.5 billion) for research capacity, Phase 2 (2021–2025, €1 billion) for spreading AI use economy-wide. Martinique falls under this artificial intelligence policy as French territory.

Most of 130 Martinique executives polled shared work data with unsecured AI

Awitec — More than one in two island executives surveyed have put professional data into an unsecured AI tool, the first Baromètre IA Martinique 2026 from Awitec finds, as workplace AI outpaces governance. The 130 respondents, among them finance, administration and HR heads, answered on 11 June 2026; few know the AI Act or measure returns. AI use spread through personal habits beyond company control, says Awitec founder Manuel Mondésir.

Awitec — Awitec's Baromètre IA Martinique 2026 polled 130 company decision-makers on AI adoption in Martinique businesses, a snapshot of generative AI use among company decision-makers. 50% had only tried generative AI once or twice out of curiosity, 33% acted as strategic thinking partners with the tools, and 17% reached expert level in automation and agentic AI. 89% still lack a working grasp of EU AI Act requirements.

CHU de Martinique deploys RAPID ANGIO AI for stroke thrombectomy

CHU de Martinique — CHU de Martinique now uses AI stroke thrombectomy support via RAPID ANGIO, its tool for AI-based cerebral scan analysis, in the interventional neuroradiology suite. During mechanical thrombectomy for ischaemic stroke, it reads scans fast, marks damaged zones and flags tissue worth saving. Roughly 900 stroke patients need hospital care in Martinique yearly.

Drones supplement this scan, catching faulty cables under the utility's PDV-HTA scheme, an AI-based power line maintenance approach built to lengthen the ageing grid's service life instead of a full rebuild.
