Residents photograph themselves and their ID card inside the Mi Identidad app, feeding both images into facial-recognition software that checks their details before a digital identity is issued, all under watch from the Ministry of Interior's identification directorate. This machine-driven approach to confirming who's who started with 15 online offerings, from civil registry paperwork to replacement ID cards, and had drawn over 111,500 visits, 20,000 signed-up users and 8,200 verified digital identities by December 2025.

The utility says the decision-support software, shown to President Miguel Diaz-Canel, should even out how circuits are rotated and push notices to households over Telegram. Nothing is switched on yet: the company describes AI-driven outage rotation as work still under way, aimed at transparency and fairer sharing of cuts.

Cuba6 Jul 2025University of Cienfuegos / National Organisation of Collective Law Offices — Cienfuegos lawyers now trial Alic.IA, an AI legal assistant from University of Cienfuegos academics, ahead of expansion across Cuba. It works as both a chatbot for legal practice queries on Cuban criminal law and a system drafting over 60 document types, approved after debuting at the Abogacía 2025 congress in March, following a pilot since late 2024.
Cuba2026-04Television Cubana — Television Cubana has fielded two AI-generated presenters, Ava and Chico, across trailers for the music show Cuerda Viva, appearing as announcers, or reading round-ups and listings. Cari Rojas, communication director of Television Cubana, dates Ava to a Cuerda Viva festival; Ana Rabasa, who runs the show, brought in Chico later. Felito Ruiz, the team's designer, assembled both on no-cost software of limited scope, and calls these virtual TV hosts wholly invented looks, resting on no prior pattern.
