Buenos Aires province issues mandatory generative AI guidelines for public sector
Subsecretaría de Gobierno Digital, Provincia de Buenos Aires — Argentina's Buenos Aires province now enforces generative AI guidelines public sector-wide under Resolution 4/2025. Staff must tag anything an AI system generates, ensure a person reviews it before use, and never enter sensitive information into these tools; machines cannot rule on matters touching individual rights. The Dirección Provincial de Innovación Digital will oversee adherence under these government AI guidelines and provide training for personnel.
Honduras launches MARIA chatbot for gender violence victims
Secretaría de Seguridad de Honduras (Security Ministry) — Honduras' Security Ministry unveiled MARIA (Módulo de Asistencia y Respuesta de Información Automatizada), an AI chatbot for gender-based violence support that also serves as a confidential virtual assistant for victims, free for women and girls, 24 hours a day, via WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, no app needed. It privately answers questions on domestic violence, harassment and trafficking and walks victims through filing a complaint. UNDP and USAID helped build it.

Ministerio de Justicia y Seguridad — An AI server for police and military is coming to El Salvador, the country's first, Minister Gustavo Villatoro said. The Ministry of Justice and Security plans to equip the National Civil Police and Armed Forces with local machines for running AI systems instead of cloud platforms, opening fresh options for analysing threats and directing responses. He called the AI infrastructure for security forces already 'on its way', though giving no delivery date or hardware details.

Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio (SIC) — Binding guidelines on personal data processing in AI systems now apply nationwide after Colombia's Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC), acting as data protection authority, issued Circular 2. Firms building or operating systems involving AI data processing must justify each use of personal information against tests of suitability, necessity, reasonableness and proportionality, while embedding privacy safeguards from the design stage and proving accountability through documented measures. The directive shifts responsibility onto controllers rather than regulators to police compliance case by case.
EU AI Act establishes harmonised rules on artificial intelligence
European Parliament and Council of the European Union — Brussels enforces a single artificial intelligence rulebook, the EU AI Act, now binding across the European Union — the world's first such comprehensive law, in force since 1 August 2024. Martinique falls under its scope automatically, as an outermost region of a member state, alongside every other EU territory. Instead of one uniform standard, the text sorts systems into four bands — unacceptable, high, limited and minimal risk — fixing separate duties on providers and deployers depending on where a tool lands. This tiered method to AI governance ties compliance burden to potential harm rather than treating every deployment alike.

Parlement européen et Conseil de l'Union européenne — This AI regulation, Regulation 2024/1689, better known as the EU AI Act, now gives Brussels a single rulebook for building, selling and running artificial intelligence systems across the bloc. Machines get sorted into bands stretching from negligible danger up to outright prohibition, while firms that supply or operate them answer to watchdogs appointed in each nation for market oversight. Because it binds every member state automatically, French Guiana shares in that AI governance regime simply by belonging to the outermost tier of the European Union.
Strategy for the Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence in Cuba
Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cuba and Ministry of Communications (MINCOM) — Six pillars frame the Estrategia para el Desarrollo y Uso de la Inteligencia Artificial, folded by Cuba's Council of Ministers into the wider Política de Transformación Digital under the Ministry of Communications: ethics and law, workforce skills, applications, government use, research, and public messaging. Binding rules demand safe, explainable, fair, privacy-conscious systems under this AI development strategy Cuba has adopted. Farming, healthcare, schooling, transport, water, tourism, manufacturing and government bodies top the sectors marked for artificial intelligence deployment.
