National Centre for Statistics and Information — Oman's National Centre for Statistics and Information released the Household Income and Expenditure Survey, applying AI in official statistics to generate indicators efficiently and sustainably. Calling the AI-produced survey a national, world-first achievement, the centre puts average monthly Omani household income at RO1,839.3 for 2025, up 18.5 per cent on 2018.

Oman's AI retina screening cuts eye-clinic waits from 62 days to eight

Ministry of Health, National Centre for Virtual Health — Oman's national AI diabetic retinopathy screening has examined over 43,000 retinal images and flagged over 12,000 patients, about 30% of those screened, for specialist review, per the director of the Ministry of Health's National Centre for Virtual Health. Over its first seven months it reached 91.3% accuracy and 85% sensitivity, cut specialist eye-clinic waiting lists 87%, reduced appointment waits from 62 days to eight and trimmed operating costs 43.2%. AI eye assessments now take roughly fifteen minutes, where pupil-dilating drops once meant about an hour and a half; phase one spans 25 health institutions.

Oman puts AI self-paving technology to work on a Dhofar highway

Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (Oman) — Oman's Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has introduced the country's first AI asphalt paving technology on phase four of the Sultan Said bin Taimur Road dualisation in Maqshan, Dhofar. The goal is faster construction at high quality; contractor Galfar Engineering & Contracting says the self-paving system coordinates paving machinery and cuts manual work on site.
