Gemini reads Damascus audiograms at 86.1%, ChatGPT at 60.8%

Syrian Private University — Gemini 1.5 Pro answered 86.1% correctly and ChatGPT-4o 60.8% when AI audiogram interpretation met specialist verdicts on pure-tone charts from 309 people aged six to 90. Syrian Private University clinicians ran the trial at Damascus Hospital, or Al-Mujtahid Hospital, submitting each chart as raw figures; 274 proved deaf to some degree. Cohen's kappa reached 0.848 for Gemini against 0.578 for ChatGPT, and machine hearing-loss triage belongs under supervision, never alone.

Damascus University AI reads hysteroscopy images at 89% accuracy

Damascus University — Damascus University engineers built AI hysteroscopy image classification separating healthy endometrium from endometrial polyps and endometritis in fertility patients. Four transfer-learned architectures, VGG-16, VGG-19, DenseNet-121 and EfficientNet-B0, were fitted to 1500 annotated stills drawn from 200 procedures, scoring 85 to 89%. DenseNet-121 led at 93% sensitivity, 98.8% AUC on polyps, 90% precision on inflammation; the deep learning decision aid awaits outside datasets and pathology-confirmed labels.

55% of surveyed Syrian pharmacists and students use AI tools
