Sudanese surgeons report 68.7% AI awareness and 9.4% clinical use

Sudan Medical Specialization Board — AI adoption among surgeons in Sudan stays notional: of 185 surgery residents and specialists canvassed, 68.7% recognised artificial intelligence, 9.4% applied such tools on patients, 10.3% attained advanced literacy, 22.3% were formally schooled. Blockers: frail infrastructure 87.6%, absent tuition 79.1%, cost 72.4%; amid fighting, 92.5% lacked kit and 78.3% steady power or internet. Wanted clinical AI use: teaching 68.2%, perioperative decision-making 65.4%. Fieldwork spanned October 2024–June 2025, plus 20 interviews, at Khartoum's Department of General Surgery, Sudan Medical Specialization Board.
