Mauritania's youth ministry launches bilingual AI assistant for citizens

Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Employment, Sport and Civil Service (Mauritania) — Mauritania's Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Employment, Sport and Civil Service introduced Morshed, billed as the country's first AI government assistant. The bilingual assistant answers in French or Arabic on the ministry's job offers, civil-service rules and youth and sport schemes, drawing on its databases and official documents and sourcing every reply.

Mauritania runs its first civil-service recruitment exam with AI checks

Government of Mauritania (National Competitions Committee) — Mauritania held its first entirely digital public recruitment exam, with AI recruitment screening verifying online applicants' data, says Prime Minister El Moctar Ould Djay. Of 1,459 applications, 513 were accepted; facial recognition checked identity, the test ran on camera-fitted tablets and marking was automatic. The National Competitions Committee planned further digital exams for IT engineers and specialist doctors.

Mauritania trains 300 civil servants in AI and cybersecurity

Ministry of Digital Transformation and Modernization of Administration — 300 Mauritanian civil servants are gaining AI and cybersecurity skills for public administration under a 12-week scheme from the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Modernization of Administration and Germany's GIZ. Nouakchott hosts the programme, branded 'Qualification du fonctionnaire', training staff from multiple sectors in using AI to boost output and safeguard data via the Centre de Formation et d'Échange à Distance — AI training for government workers at scale.
