Iraq's security service opens a public tool for spotting AI fakes

Iraqi National Security Service — Iraq's National Security Service has detailed 'Mayyiz', a cybersecurity-directorate platform for AI deepfake awareness that quizzes users on telling genuine images, video and audio from fakes and explains online fraud and disinformation methods. Billed by the service as the country's first specialised platform on AI and deepfake risks, the fake-spotting test is in preliminary trials via the government's 'Aman' platform, which hosts its data.

Iraq's planning ministry puts AI to work on census data

Iraqi Ministry of Planning — Iraq's Ministry of Planning has used AI census analysis to turn the huge dataset from the 2024 population census into indicators for development plans and investment priorities. Spokesman Abdul Zahra al-Hindawi adds that automated contractor naming and classification now runs within Central Organisation for Standardisation and Quality Control services.

Iraq's Interior Ministry issues AI use controls and ethics rules

Ministry of Interior (Iraq) — Iraq's Ministry of Interior has issued 'Controls and Ethics of AI Use in the Ministry of Interior – 2026', AI ethics rules drafted by the ministry's cybersecurity directorate on ministerial orders. These AI use controls rest on national AI ethics from a specialist government team and international data-protection and human-rights standards, to strengthen digital security.
